Who is Jesus?

Jesus Himself asked that question. Jesus asked His disciples “Who do people say I am?” The disciples answered, " Some say you are John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and other say Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." Then Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Then Jesus said, “Blessed are you Simon Peter; for no man told you this, but my Father which is in heaven.”

People today also have their own answer to that question. But how can people really answer the question, unless they have read about Him. We hope this site will help you to find the answer to the question, “Who is Jesus?”

Lesson 1: An Angel Visited Mary

This lesson is taken from Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; and Luke 2:1-20.

Long, long ago God sent the Angel Gabriel to a village by the name of Nazareth in the land of Galilee.  This angel had a message from God for a young woman by the name of Mary.  Mary had promise to marry a man by the name of Joseph, who was from the family line of King David.

The angel, Gabriel went to visit Mary and told her that God was very please with her, and God was watching over her.  That Mary, was more blessed than any other woman.

Mary became troubled and mixed up over what the angel had said to her.    She just couldn't figure out what the angel was talking about.  But, the angel kept on talking and told her, "Don't be afraid Mary, God has decided to bless you!  You will be with child, a son, and you are to name him Jesus.  Your son will be a very great man, and he will be called the Son of God.  God will give him the throne of King David, and He will rule over Israel forever, and His kingdom will never end!"

Mary was not married, so she said, "But how can I have a baby?  I have never been with a man."

The angel told Mary that the Holy Spirit would come to her, and the power of God would guard her, the baby would be holy, and He would be called the Son of God.  So Mary said that she was the servant of the Lord and she would do whatever God wanted her to do, and to let everything the angel had said come true.  Then the angel left Mary.
